DRAMA CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Acting 1 For 1st & 2nd grade, In this class, students will learn to build ensemble, explore improvisation, and adapt and perform stories. Give your child the confidence to be participants in all aspects of their lives, able to ask questions, seek answers and share information with others. Children who mix well with others find it easier to make friends and adjust to new situations. Come explore with the professional actors who will be instructing this class! Acting 2 For 3rd – 5th grade, Students will acquire important theatre vocabulary. They will also learn how to be part of an ensemble, listen and responding to other peoples’ energy, think quickly and creatively with improvisational skills and know what to be prepared for in an audition! This course will provide a wonderful opportunity for the students to express themselves creatively in an unintimidating and accepting class environment! Children who gain confidence in theatre find it easier to make friends and adjust to new situations. Teachers for this class are professional actors who work in the field. Instructor: Sarah Philabaum
Acting 3 For 6th – 8th grade, Students will learn valuable techniques for stage acting: using the voice, body and mind to create characters, practice scene work, and work as an ensemble. Students in this class will also learn how to analyze a script and better understand the audition process for a show. This course will provide a wonderful opportunity for the students to express themselves creatively in an unintimidating and accepting class environment as students will be free to try and fail, and will be challenged to try again! Teachers for this class are professional actors who work in the field. Instructor: Therese Kincade
Acting 4 For 9 th grade- Adult, High school actors and adults will acquire dramatic and character development techniques while working to improve focus, concentration and relaxation techniques. Classes will introduce the actors to different methods of character preparation. In addition, actors will also work to strengthen observation and listening techniques. Through theatre games and scene work the actors will work to hone their acting skills. This course will provide a wonderful opportunity for the students to express themselves creatively in an unintimidating and accepting class environment as students will be free to try and fail, and will be challenged to try again!
